Why do Chrysler airbags keep getting recalled for leaks and non-deployment?
Chrysler's airbag recalls cluster almost entirely on the Pacifica and Voyager minivans. Three notices cover side curtain airbags that lose pressure through improperly sealed seams, and they overlap heavily: 2022-2025 vans in May 2025, the 2025 model year again that September, and 2022-2026 vans once more in March 2026 — the same defect, re-issued as the affected range grew. Three more involve airbags that may not deploy: an improperly secured curtain airbag connector on 2020-2023 vans (since fully remedied), a steering column control module affecting the driver's airbag on 2023-2024 Chrysler, Jeep and Ram models, and a seat harness spring in Braun-converted vans. Only the 2018-2021 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger inflator rupture falls outside the minivan line.
Warning signs to watch for
- None of these notices describes a symptom you can see, hear or feel — several state the vehicle drives normally and the defect only matters in a crash
- No airbag warning light is mentioned in any of the seven notices, so a dark dashboard does not mean your vehicle is clear
- The only reliable check is your VIN with a dealer or NHTSA, since several Pacifica and Voyager model years appear in more than one of these recalls
Is it safe to keep driving?
None of these seven notices tells owners to stop driving or park outside, and several state the vehicle drives normally — the danger only appears in a crash. The 2018-2021 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger recall is the most severe: a ruptured inflator can send sharp metal fragments at occupants, so schedule that one right away. The curtain airbag pressure-loss and non-deployment recalls allow normal driving while you arrange the repair. Chrysler reports the 2020-2023 Pacifica and Voyager connector recall has already been completed on all vehicles.
What the free repair involves
Nearly every remedy is a parts replacement at the dealer, with no software or over-the-air option offered. Dealers replace both side curtain airbags on the leaking-seam vans and on the 300 and Charger, secure the loose curtain airbag connector, inspect and replace the steering column control module where necessary, and replace the harness connector spring in Braun-converted vans. All of this work is free of charge.

Common questions
Why has my Pacifica's curtain airbag been recalled more than once?
The same defect — curtain airbags that don't hold pressure because of improperly sealed seams — was announced in May 2025 for 2022-2025 vans and again in March 2026 for 2022-2026 vans. Have your dealer check your VIN against both.
Does the Charger inflator recall really include my Chrysler 300?
Yes. It covers 2018-2021 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger vehicles, where the left and right side curtain inflators may rupture. Dealers replace both curtain airbags free. Owner letters were mailed beginning February 20, 2025; call 1-800-853-1403.
My Pacifica is a wheelchair-accessible conversion. Who repairs it?
Braun Corporation issued that recall for 2023-2026 Pacifica and Voyager vans it converted, where a spring inside the front seat harness connector can touch electrical terminals. Dealers replace the spring free of charge. Contact Braun at 1-800-488-0359.
