Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon fuel tank ring may leak

NHTSA campaign 24V491000 · Reported 2024-06-28 · General Motors, LLC

high How serious is it? About this label

Serious but tied to a crash — the leak risk described is during a collision, not normal driving, and the notice does not tell owners to stop driving or park outside.

What's wrong, in plain English

The fuel pump sits inside the gas tank and is held in place by a large ring that twists shut, like a jar lid. On these trucks, that ring may not have been twisted all the way closed at the factory. If the truck is in a crash, the loose ring can let gasoline leak out, and spilled gasoline near anything hot or sparking can start a fire. Your dealer will check the ring and lock it down properly, free of charge.

What you should do

1. Enter your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see whether your truck is included.
2. Ask a Chevrolet or GMC dealer to perform recall N242451330; the inspection and fix are free.
3. Call Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC at 1-888-988-7267 if you need help scheduling.
