Take this one seriously, since braking power can drop away unexpectedly and cause a crash; the notice does not tell owners to park the car, but get the update as soon as you can.

What's wrong, in plain English

On these all-wheel-drive electric Cadillacs, the anti-lock braking system can switch on when it should not and let go of the pressure in the brakes. If that happens while you are stopping, you can suddenly lose braking ability. The fix is updated software for the electronic brake control computer. It can come to the car as a wireless over-the-air update, or a dealer can install it. Either way it is free. Owner letters were mailed in September 2024.

1. Look up your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your LYRIQ is included.
2. Accept the free over-the-air software update if your car offers it, and check the vehicle's update screen.
3. If you do not receive it, call Cadillac at 1-800-458-8006 or EV Concierge at 1-844-382-2345 and ask a dealer to install recall N242453471.

Summary
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Cadillac LYRIQ all-wheel drive vehicles. The anti-lock brake system (ABS) may activate unexpectedly and release brake pressure in the vehicle's service brake system.
Safety risk
A release of brake pressure can cause a loss of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
The electronic brake control module software will be updated through an over-the-air (OTA) update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 3, 2024. Owners may contact Cadillac's customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or EV Concierge at 1-844-EV-CADILLAC (1-844-382-2345). GM's number for this recall is N242453471. (over-the-air software update)
