Losing drive power can happen while you are moving and increases crash risk, and while the notice does not tell owners to park the truck, you should arrange the repair promptly.

What's wrong, in plain English

The part that sends electrical power to the motor, called the drive inverter, can fail. If it does, the truck loses power to the wheels and will not pull anymore. Losing power in traffic or at highway speed raises the chance of a crash. Tesla is replacing the drive inverter at no charge, and it handles this at its own service centers rather than at a dealership. Owner letters went out in early January 2025.

2. Schedule service through the Tesla app or by calling Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752.

Summary: Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2024 Cybertruck vehicles. A fault in the drive inverter may cause a loss of drive power to the wheels.
Safety risk: A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Tesla service will replace the drive inverter, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 4, 2025. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-24-40-009.
