Some 2024-2026 Tesla Cybertrucks with 18-inch steel wheels can develop cracks around the holes in the brake rotor where the wheel studs sit. A stud can then break away from the hub. The studs are what hold your wheel on, so if one or more separate you could lose control of the truck. Tesla Service will replace the front and rear brake rotors, hubs, and lug nuts at no charge.
Some 2024 Cybertrucks had an off-road light bar installed at a Tesla service center. The wrong surface primer may have been used to bond the light bar to the windshield, so the attachment can weaken. Over time the light bar can work loose and detach from the truck. If it comes off while you are driving, it drops into the road and becomes a hazard for drivers behind you. Only trucks with this service-installed accessory are affected.
The software that runs your truck's lights can make the front parking lights shine brighter than the law allows. Those lights are meant to be dim markers, not headlights, so when they are too bright they can dazzle drivers coming the other way and make it hard for them to see. Tesla has already sent out a free over-the-air software update that fixes it. You do not need to visit a service center — just make sure your truck installs the update.
The light bar on some 2024-2025 Tesla Cybertrucks can come unstuck and detach from the truck. If it does, it can fall off while you are driving and end up in the road, where it becomes a hazard for you and for other drivers. Tesla service will replace the cant rail assembly, the piece the light bar attaches to, at no cost. Owner notification letters were mailed September 19, 2025.
Your vehicle watches tire pressure and turns on a dashboard light when a tire is low. On these vehicles, that light may not stay on the next time you start the car, even though the tire is still low. You could keep driving on a soft tire without knowing it, and a poorly inflated tire handles badly and is more likely to fail. Tesla has already released a free software update that is sent to the car over the internet.
The part that sends electrical power to the motor, called the drive inverter, can fail. If it does, the truck loses power to the wheels and will not pull anymore. Losing power in traffic or at highway speed raises the chance of a crash. Tesla is replacing the drive inverter at no charge, and it handles this at its own service centers rather than at a dealership. Owner letters went out in early January 2025.
On some 2024 Tesla Cybertrucks, the backup camera picture takes too long to appear on the screen after you shift into reverse. For those first moments you're backing up, you can't see what's behind the truck on the display, which is exactly when you need it — a child, a pet, or a low obstacle could be back there. Tesla has already fixed this with a free software update, so the repair arrives over the internet rather than at a dealer.
Too much electrical current can flow to the controller that runs the front windshield wiper, and the controller can burn out. If that happens, the wiper stops working. In rain or snow you could suddenly lose your clear view of the road, which makes a crash more likely. Tesla will replace the wiper motor for free, and owner letters were mailed October 1, 2024. Certain 2024 Cybertrucks are affected.
A decorative trim piece along the edge of the truck bed may not have been glued on properly at the factory. Over time it can work loose and come off while you are driving. A piece of trim lying in the road, or flying off at speed, is dangerous for the drivers behind you and can cause a crash. Tesla will add adhesive and pressure-sensitive tape to hold it down, or replace the piece if it is already missing, at no cost.
On some 2024 Tesla Cybertrucks, the pad on the face of the accelerator pedal can slide off its mounting. If it comes loose, it can slip up and get caught on the interior trim above the pedal, holding the pedal down. The truck can then speed up on its own even after you take your foot off the pedal. Tesla will repair or replace the accelerator pedal assembly at no cost to you.
The Brake, Park, and Antilock Braking System warning lights on the dashboard display are printed in a font that is too small. The lights still work, but the small size can make these important warnings hard to read while you are driving, and it does not meet federal safety rules. Tesla has been sending a free over-the-air software update to the car to correct the size, so the fix can install without a trip to the shop.
