Lincoln Nautilus power windows may not reverse when blocked

NHTSA campaign 25V518000 · Reported 2025-08-08 · Ford Motor Company

medium How serious is it? About this label

The danger here is a pinching injury rather than a crash, and it matters most with children; the notice does not tell owners to stop driving, so use care with the windows until it is fixed.

What's wrong, in plain English

These Nautilus SUVs were brought in for an earlier window recall, 24V953, and were repaired incorrectly. Power windows are supposed to sense something in the way — a hand, an arm, a child's fingers — and go back down. On these vehicles the window may not react correctly and can keep pressing with too much force before it retracts, so the vehicles do not meet the federal rule for power windows. A dealer reloads the door module software free.

What you should do

1. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to confirm your vehicle needs this second repair.
2. Schedule the free software update with a Lincoln dealer, or call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and mention recall 25C36.
3. Until then, keep hands and children clear of closing windows and avoid the one-touch close.

Summary
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus vehicles that were repaired incorrectly under recall 24V953. The window automatic reversal system may not react correctly after detecting an obstruction. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 118, "Power-Operated Window Systems."
Safety risk
A closing window may exert excessive force by pinching a driver or passenger before retracting, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy
Dealers will update the driver door module (DDM) and the passenger door module (PDM) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 23, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C36.

Verify your specific vehicle by VIN at nhtsa.gov. Recall repairs are free of charge by law.
