Chevrolet Equinox fuel tank seam may leak gasoline

NHTSA campaign 19V667000 · Reported 2019-09-19 · General Motors LLC

critical How serious is it? About this label

A leaking fuel tank is a real fire hazard and should be repaired without delay, though the notice does not tell owners to stop driving or park outside.

What's wrong, in plain English

Certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Equinox all-wheel-drive vehicles have a fuel tank with a seam that may not have been sealed properly when it was built. Gasoline can seep out along that seam, near the spot where fuel enters the tank. Leaking gas near anything hot or anything that can spark may catch fire. There is no patch for this one — GM dealers will take out the tank and install a brand-new fuel tank at no cost to you.
