Sprinter vans may have wrong rear leaf spring shims
high How serious is it? About this label
Poor handling increases the chance of a crash, so have it repaired promptly; the notice does not say to stop driving the van.
What's wrong, in plain English
On some 2019 Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner Sprinter vans, the wrong spacers — called shims — may have been fitted between the rear axle and the leaf springs that hold up the back of the van. Because of this, the van does not meet the federal rule for electronic stability control, and it may not steer or hold the road the way it should. A dealer replaces the shims and checks related parts, free of charge.
What you should do
2. Call your Sprinter dealer, or DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267 (recall VS3LEFSPRI), for an appointment.
3. The dealer replaces the shims on both sides, renews the spring brackets, checks the rubber buffers, and adjusts the headlights — free.
