Which Nissan and Infiniti airbags were recalled for faulty deployment?
Every Nissan airbag recall here comes down to the same worry: the bag may not protect you the way it should in a crash. Two are assembly errors on 2018 models — a 2018 Versa Note whose side curtain inflator can shed a component into the cabin during deployment, and a 2018 370Z with the driver's side curtain airbag installed incorrectly. The largest is the February 2024 driver's inflator campaign, where moisture absorption can make the airbag deploy improperly; it sweeps across 2023-2024 Sentra, Versa, Kicks, Rogue, Titan, Frontier, Pathfinder and the Infiniti QX50 and QX60. The newest, from August 2026, covers 2025 Altima sedans built with incorrect mounting fasteners on the front passenger and passenger knee airbags.
Warning signs to watch for
- No warning at all: these defects only reveal themselves during a crash
- The notices do not describe an airbag warning light or any dashboard alert for these problems
- Nothing changes in how the vehicle drives, steers or sounds
- The only reliable check is your VIN, or the owner notification letter Nissan mails you
Is it safe to keep driving?
None of these four recalls carries a stop-driving or park-outside order. Nissan says the vehicles drive normally; the danger only shows up in a crash, when the airbag may not deploy as designed or, on the 2018 Versa Note, may throw an inflator component into the cabin. That makes them worth treating as urgent even though you can keep driving. On the 2023-2024 driver's inflator recall, Nissan specifically says to have the repair done as soon as a replacement part is available for your vehicle.
What the free repair involves
Dealers replace the side curtain airbags on the 2018 Versa Note, inspect the 370Z's driver's side curtain airbag and correct its installation if needed, replace the entire front driver's airbag assembly in the 2023-2024 inflator recall, and swap the passenger and knee airbag mounting fasteners on the 2025 Altima. No software or over-the-air fixes here; all work is free at a Nissan or Infiniti dealer.

Is my 2023 Rogue part of the driver's airbag inflator recall?
The 2023 Rogue is listed in Nissan's February 2024 inflator recall, along with 2023-2024 Sentra, Versa, Kicks and Infiniti QX50, plus 2024 Titan, Frontier, Pathfinder and QX60. Confirm with your VIN, since not every build is included.
What if the replacement airbag part is not available yet?
Nissan's inflator notice says the vehicle is safe to drive normally and should be repaired as soon as a part is available. Stay in contact with your dealer and watch for the owner letter, which Nissan mailed April 10, 2024.
Does the 2025 Altima recall involve the driver's airbag?
No. That recall covers the front passenger airbag and the front passenger knee airbag, which may have been installed with incorrect mounting fasteners. Dealers replace the fasteners free, and Nissan expected owner letters to be mailed September 25, 2026.
