Nissan weight rating and label recalls: does the sticker matter?
All four of these recalls are about information, not broken hardware, and three concern how much weight the vehicle can legally carry. Some 2016-2018 Titan and 2016 and 2018 Titan XD trucks had accessories installed that cut the load carrying capacity, but no modification label was fitted. The 2025 Kicks certification label was printed with the wrong Gross Vehicle Weight Rating and Gross Axle Weight Rating. The 2020-2026 Armada, 2011-2013 Infiniti QX56 and 2014-2027 QX80 with 22-inch wheels carry an incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating. The odd one out is the 2018-2023 LEAF, whose owner's manual gives incorrect defroster instructions. All are Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard compliance issues.
Warning signs to watch for
- There are no mechanical warning signs — the parts on the vehicle work normally
- No load carrying capacity modification label on a Titan or Titan XD that had accessories added
- A certification label whose weight ratings you cannot verify against other documentation
- On a LEAF, the windshield clearing poorly when you follow the manual's defroster instructions
Is it safe to keep driving?
None of these four notices tells owners to stop driving or park outside, and all four are rated low severity. You can keep driving. The practical caution is loading: with the Titan, Kicks, Armada and QX80, the figure you would normally rely on is either missing or wrong, so avoid loading the vehicle heavily until you have the corrected label. In the LEAF the car itself is fine; only the printed defroster instructions are wrong, and poor visibility from a fogged windshield is the concern.
What the free repair involves
Three of the four are label jobs. Dealers install new certification labels on the Kicks and on the Armada, QX56 and QX80, and Nissan also mails replacement labels to owners. Titan owners are sent a new load carrying capacity modification label with installation instructions. LEAF owners receive a mailed addendum with corrected defroster instructions. Everything is free of charge.

Common questions
Do I have to take the vehicle to a dealer for a sticker?
Not always. For the Kicks and the Armada, QX56 and QX80, dealers will install new labels, but Nissan is also mailing replacement labels to owners. Titan owners are sent a label with installation instructions, and LEAF owners get a mailed manual addendum.
Can I still tow or haul while I wait for the correct label?
The notices do not restrict driving, but they warn that a wrong or missing rating can let the vehicle be overloaded, and an overloaded vehicle is more likely to crash. Hold off on heavy loads until you have the corrected figures.
Is my LEAF's defroster actually defective?
No. The recall is on the owner's manual: its defroster operating instructions are incorrect and can result in reduced defroster performance under specific conditions. The remedy is a mailed addendum with the correct instructions, not a repair to the car.
