A circuit board inside the short-range radar sensor at the front of the vehicle can fail. If it does, the vehicle loses automatic emergency braking along with active brake assist, lane keeping assist, and Distronic cruise control. Your own steering and brake pedal still work normally, but those systems will not step in to help you. Dealers replace the sensor free of charge. Owner letters were mailed November 26, 2025.
Some 2025 Mercedes-Benz G 550, G 580 and AMG G 63 SUVs have a software problem in the system that helps keep the vehicle from skidding or sliding. If that system stops working, the dashboard may show the wrong warning light, so you would not know the system has failed. Because of this, the vehicles do not meet federal rules for stability control and for dashboard displays. A dealer will reload the correct software into the control unit for free.
Certain G 550 and G 63 AMG models had a replacement right-side rear door latch fitted during a service visit or an earlier recall repair. Parts inside that latch can stop the rear door from latching all the way. The door may look shut when it is not, and it can swing open while you are driving. The same damaged parts can also stop the rear door from being opened by someone sitting inside.
The fuel pump pushes gasoline from the tank to the engine. On these Mercedes-Benz models the pump can shut down on its own. When that happens the engine stops getting fuel and the vehicle loses drive power. Mercedes-Benz dealers replace the fuel pump free of charge. The recall covers a wide range of models — C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CLS, SL, GT, GLC, GLE, GLS and G-Class — so check your own VIN rather than guessing from the model name. Letters were mailed June 14, 2024.
On some 2019-2021 Mercedes-Benz G550 and AMG G63 SUVs, a bundle of wires near the front axle can rub against the oil cooler until it wears through. Damaged wiring there can knock out the anti-lock brakes, which keep the wheels from locking up when you stop hard, and the stability control that helps the SUV stay pointed where you steer. A dealer will inspect the wiring and either add a protective cover or replace it, free.
These Mercedes vehicles have a built-in emergency call system that connects the people inside to an emergency call center. A software fault on the SIM card in the car's communication unit can stop the car from connecting to the mobile network, and that shuts the emergency call feature down. You would not know until you needed it, and help could be delayed. The car otherwise drives normally. The fix is a software update, sent to the car over the air or done by a dealer.
These Mercedes models have sensors in the sides of the car that tell the airbags and seatbelts when a side impact is happening. The plugs connecting those sensors can work loose. If that happens, the side airbags and the seatbelts may react late in a side crash, or not work as designed, so people inside can be hurt worse than they should be. The dealer checks the side crash sensors and replaces any that need it, free of charge.
Rear seat belts have a mode that locks the belt tight so a child seat cannot move around. On these vehicles that lock can switch off too early. When it does, the child seat is not held firmly and can shift in a crash, leaving a child less protected. Mercedes dealers will inspect the rear seat belt assemblies and replace them if needed. Owners were sent a first letter in August 2021 and a final letter in September 2021.
Parts inside the rear door latches can wear or break. A rear door can look and feel closed while the latch is not actually holding, and then swing open while you are driving. The same damaged parts can also jam a rear door shut so a passenger cannot open it from inside. Dealers will replace both rear door latches free of charge. If your vehicle was already repaired for this problem before, it still needs to go back.
A small electrical switch that tells the car where the front seat is sitting may have a bad connection inside. If that connection fails, the driver and passenger airbags, and the seat belt parts that soften the belt's pull on your chest, may not work the way they should in a crash. The car drives normally, so you would have no way to notice the fault until a crash happens. Dealers replace the seat position switches at no charge.
