One or both front brake calipers — the parts that squeeze the brake pads against the wheel to slow the car — may not be as strong as they should be, and could break. If one breaks, you can lose braking at the front wheels, which do most of the stopping. Because of this, the vehicles do not meet the federal brake safety standard. Dealers will inspect both front calipers and replace them where needed.
On certain 2024 Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 vehicles, a rivet is missing from the driver's-side front seat belt. That rivet holds down the part of the lap belt that pulls the belt tight in a crash. Without it, that part is not properly fastened to the vehicle, so the lap belt may not hold the person in the seat during a crash. A dealer inspects the belt and replaces the part if needed.
Because of a manufacturing problem, the driver's airbag in these Nissan and Infiniti vehicles can soak up moisture. A damp airbag may not inflate the way it is supposed to in a crash. That means the airbag in the steering wheel might not protect the driver properly in a collision. There is no warning light or symptom you can check yourself. The dealer replaces the whole driver's airbag at no cost.
The driver's power seat may not be bolted tightly to its frame. Over time the welds holding the frame to a bracket at the back can break loose. A seat that isn't firmly attached may not hold the driver in place in a crash, so a crash that would have caused minor injuries could cause worse ones. A dealer checks the seat and replaces the seat cushion frame if needed, at no charge.
Certain 2021-2022 Nissan Rogue and 2022 Frontier, Pathfinder and Titan rental vehicles have a problem with the dashboard infotainment system. If the SiriusXM satellite radio subscription is set to "Not Subscribed," the unit can restart on its own, and while that happens the backup camera stops working. Because of this, these vehicles do not meet the federal rear-visibility rule. Without a camera picture you can see less behind you when reversing, raising the risk of a crash.
Some of these vehicles left the factory with a bolt missing from the track that holds the second-row seat to the floor. With that bolt gone, the seat is not anchored as strongly as it should be, and it could shift or move in a crash. Anyone riding in the second row could be hurt more badly as a result. A dealer will inspect the seat track and install a new mounting bolt if one is missing.
The headrests on the third-row seats may not have been built correctly. A weld inside may be bad, or parts inside may be lined up wrong. Because of that, a headrest can shift out of position or even come off the seat. Headrests are there to stop a person's head and neck from snapping backward in a crash, so a loose one leaves a back-seat rider less protected. A dealer will replace all three third-row headrests.
The metal frames inside the second-row seat backs may not have been welded together well enough. If those welds come apart, the seat back can give way instead of staying firm. In a crash, the seat is a big part of what holds a passenger in place, so a seat back that separates may not hold someone properly and that person could be hurt more badly. A dealer will inspect the seats and replace any that are affected.
Every hood has a backup catch that keeps it from flying up if the main latch is not shut. On these Pathfinders, the small bracket holding that backup catch was not welded well enough to the front bumper and can come off. If the main latch is not properly closed and the backup catch is gone, the hood can swing up while you are driving and block your view of the road. Dealers will inspect the bracket and replace it if needed, free of charge.
The pump for the anti-lock brakes — the system that keeps your wheels from locking up in a hard stop — can leak brake fluid onto a small circuit board inside it. Fluid on those electrical parts can cause a short circuit and start a fire. Many of these vehicles were in an earlier recall and still need work. If the ABS warning light stays on more than 10 seconds after starting, Nissan says park outside, away from buildings, and stop driving. Dealers replace the pump unit free.

The backup camera and display settings can be adjusted so the rear view image no longer appears — and the system keeps that setting the next time you shift into reverse. That means the screen can stay blank when you back up and you cannot see what is behind the vehicle. Because of this, these vehicles do not meet the federal rear visibility rule. A dealer will update the camera settings software for free.
The anti-lock brake pump can let brake fluid drip onto a circuit board inside it. Brake fluid on the electrical parts can cause a short, and that short can start a fire. There is a warning sign: if the ABS brake light stays on for more than 10 seconds after you start the engine, fluid has likely leaked. A dealer will check the pump's serial number and replace it if needed, free.
