Cadillac electrical recalls: EV battery, power loss and display failures
Six of these seven recalls are electric-vehicle problems, and the Lyriq appears in four. The 2023 Lyriq alone accounts for three: high-voltage battery connections out of position or badly welded that can cut drive power, a video display control module error that blanks the instrument panel, and a body control module miscalibration that silences the pedestrian warning sound. The 2024 Lyriq shares a rear drive unit recall with several GM EVs — poorly insulated motor wires that can also cost drive power. Two battery recalls are the most serious: loose or missing mounting bolts on the 2025 Lyriq, and an improperly secured internal module on the 2026 Escalade IQ and IQL, both flagged as fire risks. Only the 2023-2025 XT5 and XT6 dash lighting recall involves a gas model.
Warning signs to watch for
- Sudden loss of drive power while driving (2023 Lyriq battery connections, 2024 Lyriq rear drive unit).
- The instrument panel goes blank, leaving no speed reading or warning lights (2023 Lyriq).
- No pedestrian warning sound from the vehicle at low speed (2023 Lyriq).
- Instrument panel does not illuminate when you use hazards, high beams or turn signals (2023-2025 XT5, XT6).
- The two battery recalls give no warning you can see or hear beforehand.
Is it safe to keep driving?
None of the seven tells owners to stop driving or park outside — including the two high-voltage battery fire recalls on the 2025 Lyriq and 2026 Escalade IQ. Both are still urgent: book the inspection or battery replacement as soon as your dealer can take the car. The drive-power recalls on the 2023 and 2024 Lyriq deserve the same urgency, and GM mailed 2023 Lyriq owners an extra letter explaining the safety risk. The blank-display, pedestrian-sound and XT5/XT6 dash-lighting recalls can wait for a scheduled visit.
What the free repair involves
Work ranges from a laptop to a new battery. Dealers reprogram the video display control module and body control module on the 2023 Lyriq, and update instrument panel software on XT5 and XT6. Hardware work includes inspecting and retightening or replacing battery mounting bolts on the 2025 Lyriq, replacing the high-voltage battery on the 2026 Escalade IQ, and replacing the rear drive unit on the 2024 Lyriq. All free.

Common questions
Should I park my Lyriq or Escalade IQ outside because of the battery recalls?
GM has not asked owners to park outside or to stop driving for either the 2025 Lyriq battery bolt recall or the 2026 Escalade IQ battery module recall. Both involve fire risk, so schedule the work promptly.
What does a loss of drive power actually mean?
The vehicle can stop delivering motor power while you are driving. It affects 2023 Lyriq high-voltage battery pack connections and 2024 Lyriq rear drive unit wiring. GM did not restrict driving, but sent 2023 Lyriq owners an extra letter explaining the risk.
Is the XT5 and XT6 recall worth a special trip?
It is the mildest of this group. The instrument panel may not illuminate when hazard lights, high beams or turn signals are used, which fails a federal standard. The software update is free and can wait for your next visit.
