Buying a used 2021 Audi A6? Check these 11 recalls first

11 NHTSA recalls · 16 owner complaints on file

Ten recalls apply, more than any other A6 year here, but none is rated critical. Three involve occupant protection: door sensors that may delay airbag deployment, a passenger airbag that may not deploy properly, and a rear seat belt that may not hold a child seat securely. A broken rear suspension nut and engine power loss from spills round out the serious items. Only 16 owner complaints — mostly electrical — with no crashes, fires or injuries reported; those are unverified.

Before you buy

  1. Get the 17-character VIN from the seller and run it at nhtsa.gov/recalls. It shows which recalls are still unrepaired on that exact car.
  2. Confirm the door sensor and passenger airbag recalls were completed by VIN.
  3. If you carry children, test that the rear belt locks and holds a child seat.
  4. Check rear suspension nut recall status and look at rear tire wear patterns.
  5. Open recalls are repaired free at any Audi dealer, whoever owns the car — an open recall is a to-do item, not a bill.
