When you fill up, extra gas can splash and collect in the pocket around the fuel filler door instead of going into the tank. On these cars, that spilled fuel can run out and reach hot engine or exhaust parts, which can start a fire. It affects Corvettes built with a particular left-side radiator and fan setup. The fix is a shield the dealer installs to steer any spilled gas away from the hot parts.
Certain Cadillac CTS and ATS models and Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette models may lose their electric power steering assist. When that help goes away, the steering wheel becomes much harder to turn, which is most noticeable when you are driving slowly or parking. You can still steer, but it takes considerably more muscle and can catch you off guard. Dealers will replace the power steering gear assembly at no charge. GM mailed owner notification letters on April 15, 2025.
On certain Chevrolet Corvettes, the seat belt retractor — the spool the belt winds into — can lock while the belt is put away. When that happens, you cannot pull the belt out at all, so the driver's seat belt, the passenger's, or both may be impossible to use. The belt is not worn out or dirty; the mechanism itself jams in the stowed position. Dealers will replace the affected retractors at no cost to you.
Your Corvette's rear half-shafts are the parts that send power from the transmission to the rear wheels. On some cars, one or more ball bearings inside these parts may be missing. Without them, the half-shaft can stop doing its job, and the car can suddenly lose drive power while you are driving. You may still have steering and brakes, but the car will not pull. Dealers replace the affected left or right rear half-shaft at no cost.
A software problem in your vehicle's communication module means the airbag warning light on the dash can turn on and off when it shouldn't. Because the light behaves unpredictably, it may fail to tell you when something is genuinely wrong with the airbag system. The notice does not say the airbags themselves are faulty — the problem is with the warning you would get if a fault developed. A free software update fixes it, done at the dealer or sent to the car over the air.
The driver's seat belt has a part inside that is supposed to lock up and hold you in place during a crash. On some 2020 Corvettes, that locking part may not grab the way it should. You would not notice anything wrong in normal driving; the belt still buckles and pulls across you, but in a crash it could let out extra slack and fail to hold the driver back.
These vehicles use an electric system that helps boost your braking, so the pedal feels easy to press. Dirt or moisture on a sensor connection can cut off the signal between the sensor and that booster. If that happens, the power assist goes away and the brake pedal gets very hard to push. The car will still stop, but you have to push much harder and it takes longer. GM dealers replace the brake booster module at no cost.
On certain 2020 Corvettes, you can drive away with the front trunk lid not latched, even though the car shows a warning on the screen and beeps at you. Above a certain speed the lid can fly open and block your view of the road ahead. The fix changes the car's software so it limits speed to 26 mph when the hood is not shut, and it also changes how the key fob hood release works so the hood is less likely to pop open by accident.
Certain 2020 Chevrolet Corvettes have a release button inside the front trunk so anyone shut in there can get out. On these cars, that button stops working about ten minutes after the vehicle is turned off, which means the vehicles do not meet the federal internal trunk release rule. Dealers will reprogram the car's body control module software so the button always works, free of charge. Owners can also get the fix through an over-the-air software update.
On certain 2019 Corvette ZR1 cars, braking hard or accelerating hard can push the module that detects crashes into a fault state. Once that happens, it stops watching for crashes and will not fire the airbags if you have one. Given how these cars are driven, the fault can happen during normal spirited driving. Chevrolet dealers will install updated software in the crash-sensing module so hard braking and acceleration no longer trip it.
