Cadillac equipment recalls: blank displays, wrong labels and manuals
Three of Cadillac's four equipment recalls are information problems rather than broken hardware. Two involve owner's manuals: 2024 XT4s shipped with the wrong printed manual in the glove box, failing the federal child-restraint anchorage labeling standard, and 2025-2026 Optiq, Escalade IQ and Escalade IQL models never downloaded their electronic manual to the radio screen. A third covers 2023 XT5 and XT6 vehicles whose driver's-side B-pillar certification label lists tire sizes that may be illegible. The outlier is the electric 2023-2024 Lyriq, where the driver video display can go blank while you drive, taking the speedometer, warning lights and backup camera view with it. Newer Cadillac EVs and the 2023 XT5/XT6 pair show up most often.
Warning signs to watch for
- The driver video display goes blank while driving, leaving no speedometer, warning lights or backup camera image (2023-2024 Lyriq).
- Tire size text on the driver's-side B-pillar certification label is smeared or unreadable (2023 XT5, XT6).
- The owner's manual in the glove box is for a different vehicle than the one you bought (2024 XT4).
- The electronic owner's manual never appears or will not download on the infotainment screen (Optiq, Escalade IQ, Escalade IQL).
- Apart from the Lyriq display, these recalls produce no change in how the vehicle drives, steers or brakes.
Is it safe to keep driving?
None of these four recalls tells owners to stop driving or park outside. The three labeling and manual recalls are paperwork issues — the vehicle drives, steers and brakes normally, so keep driving and just verify the correct tire size from another source until the new certification label is installed. The Lyriq display recall is the one to treat with urgency: losing your speedometer, warning lights and backup camera raises crash risk, so get the software update as soon as it is available, though the notice still does not direct you to park.
What the free repair involves
All four remedies are free. For the Lyriq, a dealer updates the video display control module software, or the update arrives over the air. For the XT5 and XT6, the dealer replaces the vehicle certification label. XT4 owners receive the correct printed owner's manual. On the Optiq and Escalade IQ models, the dealer resets the radio so the electronic manual downloads automatically.

Common questions
Can the Lyriq display recall be fixed without a dealer visit?
Yes. GM says the video display control module software can be updated by a dealer or delivered through an over-the-air update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were expected to be mailed July 14, 2025.
Why does a missing owner's manual count as a safety recall?
The 2024 XT4 recall is a compliance issue with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 225, covering child restraint anchorages. Without the right manual, you could use the vehicle or install a child seat improperly, which GM says could lead to a crash or injury.
What should I do about tire sizes until my label is replaced?
Keep driving, but confirm the correct tire size from a source other than the B-pillar label before buying tires, since that printed information may be illegible. Dealers replace the certification label free; notification letters were mailed October 12, 2022.
