This recall is an expansion of two earlier Honda fuel pump recalls covering additional vehicles.
Some 2022-2024 Civic 4-door and 5-door cars got a new power steering rack during a service visit, and that part may have been put together wrong. When it is, a front tire can rub against the lower suspension or the tie rod end. That constant rubbing wears into the tire and can damage it. Only cars that actually received a replacement rack are affected. A Honda dealer will inspect the electric power steering rack and replace it if needed, free.
A fastener that connects the brake pedal booster to the brake master cylinder may have been put together wrong at the factory. If it fails, the master cylinder can separate from the booster and you could lose the ability to stop the vehicle. A dealer will inspect the brake booster assembly and repair it if needed at no cost. Honda mailed owner letters on August 7, 2023, so the repair is available now.
The pump that pushes gasoline out of the fuel tank toward the engine sits inside the tank, and on these Honda and Acura vehicles it can stop working. When it fails, the engine can stall, meaning it shuts off while you are driving, and that can happen at any speed. Your dealer will replace the whole fuel pump assembly at no cost to you. This recall is a larger version of an earlier Honda recall, 20V-314.
The low-pressure fuel pump sits inside the gas tank and pushes fuel toward the engine. On these Honda and Acura vehicles, that pump can quit working. If it does, the engine can stall — shut off — while you are driving, which can leave you stopped in traffic or unable to keep up with the cars around you. Dealers replace the entire fuel pump assembly at no charge, and this repair has been available since July 2020.
Certain 2017-2018 Honda Civic Hatchback and Civic Type R vehicles either did not come with an owner's guide, or the guide they came with did not include all the required information about the vehicle's child car seat anchors. Because of that missing information, these vehicles do not meet the federal safety rule covering child restraint anchorage systems. Honda dealers will give you a replacement owner's information kit with the correct information.
In these Civics and CR-Vs, a small magnet inside the power steering system may not be held in place properly and can come loose. If it does, and you turn the wheel all the way to one side, the power steering can push in the opposite direction from the way you are steering. The car suddenly fights your steering input instead of helping it. Dealers will replace the whole steering gearbox assembly at no cost to you.
On some 2018 Honda Civics, the label that lists the vehicle's build date was printed with random, jumbled characters. Nothing on the car itself is broken. The trouble is that you or a dealer may not be able to tell whether your Civic is included in other safety recalls, which could mean missing a repair you need. Honda dealers will put on a correct label free of charge. This recall began in August 2018.
