Toyota seat recalls: loose seat backs and bad welds explained
All five trace to the same kind of factory error: welds and bolts that were not done right. Improper welds affect the 2025 Sienna Hybrid's second-row seat rails, the 2025 RAV4's front seat brackets, and the head restraint brackets in the second-row center and right seats of the 2023-2024 Camry. Loose bolts affect third-row seatbacks on 2021-2025 Sienna Hybrid vans. The outlier is the 2021-2025 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, where second-row seat backs may fail to lock when you adjust them. Sienna and Highlander each appear in more than one campaign, and rear seats are hit far more often than front seats — only the RAV4 recall involves the front row.
Warning signs to watch for

Is it safe to keep driving?
None of these five recalls tells owners to stop driving or park outside, and none affects how the vehicle handles. The hazard shows up in a crash, when a seat, seat back or head restraint may not hold as designed. Until the repair, the notices point to keeping people and child seats out of the affected positions: the third row of a 2021-2025 Sienna Hybrid, the second-row center and right seats of a 2023-2024 Camry, and the second row of an affected Highlander or 2025 Sienna Hybrid.
What the free repair involves
Every repair is free. Dealers replace the second-row seat rails on the Sienna Hybrid, the return springs in the Highlander's seat back recliner assemblies, and the 60% rear seat-back frame sub-assembly on the Camry. The RAV4 seat bracket welds are inspected and repaired as necessary, and the Sienna third-row seat bolts are tightened. No software or over-the-air fix applies here. Two are phased recalls, so parts arrive in stages.
