14 recalls covering model years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025. To check whether your vehicle is affected, look up your 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls — a recall may apply only to some vehicles of a given year.
These hybrids come with a tire repair kit instead of a spare tire. Inside the kit is a bottle of sealant you squeeze into a flat tire. Pressure can build up inside that bottle while you use it, and the cap can pop off. A cap flying off under pressure can hit you or anyone standing nearby and cause an injury. Honda has already mailed a warning letter, and the parts needed for the final repair are expected in fall 2026.
A sensor under the front passenger seat measures the weight of whoever is sitting there so the car knows how to use the airbags. That sensor can crack and short out. If it does, the airbags can go off in an unintended way during a crash, which can hurt the people inside. This recall covers a long list of Honda and Acura models and expands an earlier recall. Dealers will put in new seat weight sensors.
The fasteners holding the driver's seat cushion frame may not have been tightened enough at the factory, so the driver's seat can be loose. A seat that is not solidly attached may not hold the driver in place in a crash, which means a higher chance of injury. The vehicles also do not meet the federal safety rule for seating systems. Dealers will replace the driver's seat cushion frame at no charge.
A software mistake in one of the computers that manages your hybrid system can make it reset itself while you are driving. When that happens, the car can suddenly stop sending power to the wheels, so you lose the ability to accelerate. This can happen with no warning while the vehicle is moving. Honda has a corrected version of the software, and a dealer will load it into your car at no cost to you.
On certain Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, Civic Sedan, Civic Hatchback, Pilot and HR-V vehicles and Acura Integra models, the driver's seat cushion frame may not have been tightened properly when the car was built. That can leave the driver's seat not firmly secured to the floor. These vehicles do not meet the federal safety standard for seating systems. Dealers will replace the driver's seat cushion frame at no cost to the owner.
The high-pressure fuel pump on these cars can crack and let gasoline leak out. Leaking fuel near anything hot or sparking can start a fire. A dealer will inspect the pump and replace it if it needs it, at no cost to you. Honda mailed owner letters on February 20, 2025, so if you have not had this checked, book it now. If you ever smell gasoline or see fuel dripping under the car, call your dealer right away.
There is a sensor in the front passenger seat that senses the weight of whoever is sitting there. It tells the vehicle whether to turn the passenger airbag off — for example when the seat is empty or a small person is in it. On these vehicles the sensor can crack and short out, so the airbag may not switch off when it should. It could then go off in a crash when it was supposed to stay shut. Dealers replace the sensor free.
The fuel pump sits inside the gas tank and sends fuel to the engine. On these vehicles that pump can fail. When it does, the engine can stall while you are driving — losing power in traffic or on the highway raises the chance of a crash. A dealer will replace the entire fuel pump unit for free. This recall is an expansion of two earlier Honda fuel pump recalls covering additional vehicles.
The transmission in these hybrids may not have been built correctly. If it fails, the vehicle can lose drive power — you press the accelerator and the car will not pull. Losing power like that in traffic can lead to a crash. Honda's fix is not a patch or an adjustment: the dealer installs a completely new transmission at no cost to you. Owner letters were mailed in October 2023, so the repair is available now.
Because of a manufacturing problem, part of the front seat belt buckle can press against the release button. When that happens, the metal tongue will not click in and stay locked, so the belt may not fasten at all. A seat belt that is not latched cannot hold you in place in a crash. Honda dealers will replace the driver and front passenger buckle release buttons, or the whole buckle, free of charge. Letters were mailed April 18, 2023.
The middle seat belt in the second row has a feature that locks the belt tight so a child's car seat stays put. On these vehicles that locking feature can switch off when it should not, leaving a child seat loose instead of held firmly in place. A loose child seat can move in a crash and injure the child. A dealer will replace the whole second-row center seat belt assembly at no cost.
The pump that pushes gasoline out of the fuel tank toward the engine sits inside the tank, and on these Honda and Acura vehicles it can stop working. When it fails, the engine can stall, meaning it shuts off while you are driving, and that can happen at any speed. Your dealer will replace the whole fuel pump assembly at no cost to you. This recall is a larger version of an earlier Honda recall, 20V-314.
These Honda hybrids use a converter that keeps the regular 12-volt battery charged while you drive. On the recalled vehicles that converter can shut down, so the battery stops being recharged. When that happens, the car can lose the power that moves it, which could leave you stopped in traffic. The fix is a free software update to the power control unit, done at a Honda dealer. This recall began on February 12, 2021.
A software bug can interrupt the messages passing between the car's main body computer and other parts. When that happens, things you rely on may quit working, including the windshield wipers, the defroster, the backup camera, the outside lights, warning chimes and the power windows. The problems may come and go or stay. Losing wipers or lights in bad weather or at night is the real danger here. Dealers will reload the software for free.
