Jeep body, frame and trim recalls: what owners should know
This group splits cleanly by model. The Wrangler recalls are structural: improperly welded front track bar brackets on 2018-2019 models that can separate from the frame and reduce steering, a frame stud on 2020-2022 Wranglers that can puncture the fuel tank in a crash, and corrosion of the rear underbody ladder rail on the 2018 Wrangler that can loosen the left rear seat mount. The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer recalls involve pieces that were not secured properly: B-pillar trim that can block side curtain airbag deployment, door trim, quarter window trim and, on the Wagoneer S, a liftgate hinge cover. The Wagoneer S was also built with an incorrect instrument panel cross car beam.
Warning signs to watch for
- Loose, rattling or visibly detached trim on Wagoneer doors, quarter windows, or a Wagoneer S liftgate hinge cover.
- Reduced steering capability on 2018-2019 Wranglers if a front track bar bracket separates from the frame.
- A loose left rear seat in the 2018 Wrangler, where corrosion has weakened the rear floor pan.
- A fuel leak after a crash on 2020-2022 Wranglers, if the frame stud punctures the tank.
- The B-pillar airbag trim and Wagoneer S cross car beam give no day-to-day warning — they only matter in a crash.
Is it safe to keep driving?
None of these eight recalls tells you to stop driving or park outside. The trim recalls — Wagoneer door trim, quarter window trim and the Wagoneer S liftgate hinge cover — mainly endanger other drivers if a piece comes off, so normal use is fine while you schedule. The B-pillar airbag trim, the Wagoneer S cross car beam and the Wrangler fuel tank stud matter only in a crash; driving is acceptable, but crash protection is compromised until repaired. The 2018-2019 Wrangler track bar welds deserve the soonest appointment, since steering can be reduced without warning.
What the free repair involves
All fixes are dealer work, none over the air, and all free of charge. Dealers inspect and repair the track bar bracket welds, remove the frame stud and apply paint, coat the rear ladder rail with three-part rust protection, reseat or replace the B-pillar trim, replace the cross car beam, and inspect or replace door trim, the quarter window glass assembly or the liftgate hinge cover as needed.

Common questions
My Wagoneer trim looks fine — do I still need the recall done?
Yes. The door and quarter window trim recalls cover parts that may not have been installed or secured properly, so a piece can work loose later even if it looks right today. Dealers inspect and replace only what is needed, free of charge.
Does the B-pillar trim problem mean my airbags will not work?
The notice says the upper B-pillar trim may not be fully seated and could interfere with side curtain airbag deployment, which is why these 2022-2023 Wagoneers fail a federal safety standard. The fix reseats or replaces the trim itself.
Is the 2018 Wrangler rust recall the same as ordinary frame rust?
No. It targets one specific part, the driver's side rear underbody ladder rail, where corrosion can weaken the rear floor pan and loosen the left rear seat mount. Dealers coat that rail inside and out with three-part rust protection.
