This covers more trucks with the same roof airbag problem as an earlier recall. The airbags mounted in the roof rails above the side windows have a gas canister whose end cap can detach, or whose sidewall can split open. If that happens, the compressed gas escapes and can launch the cap or metal fragments into the cab, where they can injure the people inside. Dealers will replace both roof rail airbag modules at no cost to you.
Your truck has airbags built into the roof rails above the side windows. On these trucks, the end cap on the airbag's gas canister can come off, or the wall of the canister can split open. The dealer will inspect your truck and install corrected transmission software at no charge. Owner letters went out on March 6, 2026.

These full-size trucks and SUVs have the 6.2-liter V8 gas engine. Some were built with faulty connecting rods or crankshafts — heavy internal parts that keep the engine turning. Those parts can break, damaging the engine badly enough that it quits. Dealers will inspect your engine and repair or replace it if needed. If it passes inspection, they will switch it to a thicker oil, put on a new oil filter and oil fill cap, and update your owner's manual. All free.
A part inside the automatic transmission, called the control valve, can fail on these diesel-powered pickups and large SUVs. If it breaks, the rear wheels can suddenly lock up while you are driving, which can make the vehicle skid or spin. Your dealer will load new transmission computer software free of charge. That software also checks for a bad control valve, and GM has a special coverage program to pay for repairing transmissions found to have one.

Your truck or SUV has a computer that watches the brake system. Because of a software problem, that computer may not turn on the dashboard warning light when brake fluid gets low. You could keep driving without knowing anything is wrong, and low fluid can make the brakes work less well. The fix is new software, sent to your vehicle over the air or installed by a dealer.
Some Chevrolet Silverado trucks have a rear bumper mounting bracket that isn't strong enough for towing. The bracket is what anchors the hitch to the truck, so if it can't handle the load, a trailer you're pulling can come off the back of the truck while you're driving. A loose trailer on the road is dangerous for you and for everyone around you. The company will replace both the rear bumper mounting bracket and the hitch.
On these Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles, the daytime running lights can stay lit when you turn the headlights on. They are supposed to switch off at that point. Because they stay bright, they can create glare for other drivers and make it harder for people to see. This does not meet the federal rules for vehicle lamps. A dealer can update the software that controls the lights, or the fix can be sent to the vehicle wirelessly.
On some 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trucks, the computer that senses a crash and fires the airbags was still in factory test mode. It was never switched on before the truck left the assembly plant. With it stuck in that mode, the airbags will not go off in a crash, so people inside would not get that protection. These trucks were still sitting on dealer lots, so dealers sent them back to the GM plant and the computer was turned on.
Some of these trucks were fitted with an accessory sport bar. The brake light mounted on that bar may not work, and the bar can also block the truck's own high center brake light. Either way, drivers behind you may not get a clear signal when you brake, so the truck does not meet the federal lighting standard. A dealer will check how the bar was installed and correct the wiring if needed.
These Sierra 1500 and Silverado 1500 trucks were sold with add-on accessory wheels and tires, but the 17-inch spare tire that came with the truck does not match those accessory wheels. If you put that spare on, the difference can keep the anti-lock brakes from working the way they should in some situations, which affects how the truck stops and steers in a hard or slippery braking situation.
The driver's airbag in the steering wheel may be missing one or more of the small metal tabs that hold its plastic cover onto the airbag housing. Those tabs keep the cover in place so the bag can burst out the right way. Without them, the airbag may not open correctly in a crash, so it may not protect you as designed. Your dealer will look at the driver's airbag and put in a new one if it is faulty.
Some tires on these trucks were left curing too long when they were made. Tires that were over-cured can break in the sidewall and lose all their air at once, or the tread can start separating and peel off the tire. Either problem can happen while you are driving and make the truck very hard to control. A dealer will inspect your tires and replace any that are affected.

Seat belts are bolted to the vehicle body and to the seats. On these vehicles, the wrong bolts may have been used at one or more of those spots, so a belt may not be attached securely. If a belt pulls loose in a crash, it may not hold the person wearing it, which can mean more serious injuries. Dealers will find and replace any wrong bolts at no charge.
The front-row center seat belt has a bracket that bolts it to the seat frame. On these trucks and SUVs, that bracket may not have been fastened properly at the factory. If it comes loose, the belt may not hold a person in place during a crash, so someone sitting in the middle front seat could be hurt worse than they should be. Dealers will check both sides and put it together correctly for free.
These Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles may have left the factory with Continental tires that were heated too long while being made. A tire made this way can crack in the sidewall and lose air suddenly, or the tread can start peeling away and come partly or completely off the tire. Either problem can happen while you are driving. Dealers will inspect your tires and replace any that match the specific tire codes Continental identified.
One of the joints on the driveshaft may not have been welded correctly. The driveshaft is the spinning bar that carries power from the transmission to the wheels. A bad weld can let it come apart while the truck is moving, and the truck will suddenly stop pulling even though the engine keeps running. This covers certain 2019-2020 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 trucks and 2020 Silverado 2500 trucks. Dealers will replace the driveshaft at no cost.
These trucks and SUVs use a pump to help you push the brake pedal down. Over time that pump can get weaker, so the pedal takes more foot pressure and the vehicle needs more room to come to a stop. The brakes still work, but they can feel hard and stopping takes longer than you expect. Dealers reprogram the computer that manages the brake system so it handles the weaker assist better. This repair has been available since November 2020.

These trucks received a software update for the computer that manages the brakes, and that update contains an error. Because of it, the truck's electronic brake assist can be turned off. That system is part of the braking and stability controls, so with it disabled the truck no longer meets two federal safety standards. Losing brake assist makes a crash more likely. A dealer reloads corrected software into the module at no cost.
Some 2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks were built with too much glue on the ring at the end of the main positive battery cable. That glue can keep the cable from making solid contact with the alternator, the part that charges the battery while you drive. The connection can come and go, which can shut the engine off while you're driving. It can also spark, and the heat from that sparking can start a fire.
A software error in the brake control computer can shut off your anti-lock brakes — the system that keeps wheels from locking up in a hard stop — and stability control, which helps keep the vehicle from sliding in a turn. Normally a dash warning light would tell you. With this fault, the lights stay off, so you could be driving without either system and never know. A dealer reprograms the computer at no cost.
Some of these vehicles left the factory with a fuel pump that is missing its pressure regulator — the part that keeps fuel pressure in check. Without it, pressure can build too high, crack the fuel pump, and let gasoline leak out. Leaking fuel near anything hot or sparking can start a fire. Your dealer will replace the fuel pump at no cost to you. This recall began back in December 2019, so a used vehicle you bought may still need it.
Certain Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups with carpet floor covering have a problem with the front seat belt tensioners — the devices that yank the belt tight in a crash using a small charge of gas. Hot gas can escape through an opening in the tensioner's metal bracket and set the carpet on fire. That could start a fire inside the truck. Dealers will close off the opening in the bracket free of charge.
On these 5.3-liter four-wheel-drive trucks and SUVs, a failed wheel speed sensor can fool the brake computer into braking one wheel by itself. It happens between about 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, and it makes the vehicle pull toward one side with no warning to the driver. The repair is a free software update to the brake control computer at the dealer. Owners were notified starting in December 2019.
The pump that provides the suction your power brakes rely on can get weaker as the miles add up. As it fades, the brake pedal gets harder to push and the vehicle takes longer to stop. The brakes still work, but you have to press much harder. Dealers will reprogram the brake control computer at no charge. Repairs began October 8, 2019, under GM recall number N192268490.
The passenger-side front airbag may have been damaged while the truck was being built. Because of that damage, the airbag may not inflate the way it should if you are in a crash. Nothing looks or feels different from the driver's seat, so there is no warning sign to watch for. Your dealer will put in a new passenger airbag at no charge. This recall started in December 2018, so the fix is available now.
