Because of that, the vehicle may not switch on "auto-hold" or shift into "park" the way it should. The result is that the vehicle can move when you expect it to stay still, which could catch you or someone nearby by surprise.
A software update sent to certain 2022-2023 Rivian R1T pickups and R1S SUVs may have switched off the controls for the windshield defroster and defogger. If those controls do not work, you cannot clear fog or ice off the windshield, so your view of the road ahead can get badly reduced while you are driving. Your truck has a system in the front passenger seat that is supposed to sense when a child or a child seat is sitting there and switch the passenger airbag off. On some R1Ts, that system may not turn the airbag off as it should. If the airbag goes off in a crash, it could strike a child who should have been shielded from it. Rivian service centers will replace the entire front passenger seat at no cost.
